Every Mother Counts is going to be instrumental in raising awareness of unnecessary deaths that occur during childbirth in third world countries. They will also provide proper training for midwives.
It's scary enough giving birth in this country, where they take good care of you. Can you imagine if you were also concerned with whether or not you would come out of it alive?

In the 19th century, one out of five mothers died in childbirth. This would mean that every woman probably knew someone who had died giving birth. Imagine how risky it felt back then?
