I know nothing of chess and I am lov'in this series. I need to learn. I know these are sketches, does that mean you will take these farther, like to canvas and oil?

Karen, thanks! I'm using oil pastels in rough strokes then a bristle brush with turp where I want to soften and blur the lines.

I wouldn't have thought to do this if it wasn't that my daughter cleaned out her closet and gave me her old set of oil pastels. I hate oil pastels, -used to hate oil pastels. They just needed a little turp to be dissolved into submission.

Denny, sounds like a good move! I'm already working on the next one.

Dori, have someone patient teach you to play. It's such a great game of strategy. I just played a match with my son and he didn't beat me in five moves for once... still won though.

My plan is to get a good feel for drawing the pieces then hopefully do some large paintings. We'll see what develops.

Hola Bruno, muchas gracias! Aprendi a jugar ajedrez en Buenos Aires cuando era muy chica. Me estoy sintiendo nostalgiosa.
